Why we exist
Thailand is facing a critical demographic challenge. Birth rates have declined sharply – from 800,000 births in 2005 to just 416,514 in 2025. Yet among those births, Thailand has the second-highest rate of
low birth weight infants in economically developed Asian countries.
Approximately 25,000 preterm infants are born in Thailand each year. Of these, an estimated 12,000 infants require advanced medical nutrition under clinical supervision. Without access to human milk-based fortifiers, many of these infants face elevated risks of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC),
sepsis, and long-term developmental complications.
The Ministry of Public Health’s Every Birth Matters initiative recognizes that every birth is precious and must be supported with the highest quality care. Kaothanasap exists to answer that call.
